Yes — both. HardYard works on any smartphone with a modern browser. iPhone, Android, Samsung, whatever you're carrying on site. No compatibility issues.

No app store needed. HardYard is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — you open it in your browser and install it straight to your home screen in one tap. No waiting for Apple or Google to approve updates. No storage eating downloads.

On Android: Open the app in Chrome, tap the three dots menu, select "Add to Home Screen".

On iPhone: Open in Safari, tap the Share button, select "Add to Home Screen".

It'll sit on your home screen and open like a normal app.

Yes. Once you've opened the app, it caches itself on your device. All 14 site calculators work offline. Your saved vault records, notes and CSCS card are available offline. The Safety SOS button works offline.

Features that need a live connection — The Yard marketplace, live job syncing and stolen tool alerts — will resume automatically when signal is restored.

A banner at the top of the app lets you know when you're offline so there's no confusion.

HardYard was built first and foremost for groundworkers and landscapers — the calculators reflect that. But the tool protection, job management, marketplace and safety features are useful for any trade on site.

Brickies, concreters, fencers, pavers, drainage contractors, plasterers, painters, tilers, roofers, electricians, plumbers — if you work on a site and own tools, HardYard is for you.

The Shield is HardYard's tool protection system. You register each tool with its name, serial number, estimated value, a photo and a receipt if you have one. That data is encrypted and stored securely against your account.

If your tools get lifted, you can generate a full Police Pack PDF in one tap — a professional document with serial numbers, photos, values and your details, ready to hand to the police or your insurance company.

You can also mark a tool as stolen which triggers a live alert to other HardYard users in your area. If someone tries to register that serial number on another account, it flags immediately.

Open The Shield, find the tool, tap Mark as Stolen. That triggers three things:

1. A live stolen alert goes out to other HardYard users nearby.
2. The serial number is flagged — if anyone tries to register it on another account, HardYard catches it.
3. You can generate a Police Pack PDF instantly — all your tool details, serial numbers, photos and proof of purchase in one professional document.

The more tradespeople who register their tools on The Shield, the harder it becomes to sell stolen kit. That's the network effect.

The CSCS Card Wallet lets you store a digital copy of your CSCS card (or White Card in Australia, OSHA card in the US) directly in the app.

Add your card number, card type, expiry date and photographs of the front and back. When a site manager asks to see your card, tap Show Card for a full-screen display — bright screen, easy to read, no fumbling in your wallet in the rain.

The app will warn you when your card is approaching its expiry date so you never get turned away at the gate.

Yes. HardYard takes data protection seriously.

• Your account data is stored on Supabase — a secure, enterprise-grade database platform with row-level security. Only you can access your records.
• HardYard is registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) under the UK GDPR. Registration confirmed June 2026.
• We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties without your consent.
• Tool photos and receipts are stored securely and are only accessible to your account.

HardYard was built by a groundworker from Northern Ireland who got sick of losing tools, doing sums on the back of a van, and paying £30 a month for apps that didn't understand the trades. So he built his own.

Started in December 2025. Launched June 2026. Built evenings and weekends around a full-time job on site.
